B&W LOGO DESIGN
PROJECT OVERVIEW:
In this project, we were put to the task to come up with 4 different company logos to represent the areas the companies were set in and their names. Once we created logos for them, we had to narrow them down to just one. In the end, I ended up with Prickly Pear Landscapes, which is a landscaping company set in Arizona. I never thought I would end up doing this company, but it became my final in the end.
RESEARCH & BRAINSTORMING

MY RESEARCH:
Researching for these four companies wasn't difficult, it was trying to find ways to simplify them that was the difficult part. I really like logos in circles so I wanted to center my logos in a circular shape. New Circle living was surprisingly difficult though so I created logos for it before researching and then once I figured out that it's not supposed to look high class hotel, it became real hard. The prickly pear is an interesting fruit to see and even more interesting to recreate through simple lines.
SKETCHES & DOODLES

HAND DRAWING:
This part was the most important and tedious part since it gave me something to work with moving forward and took the most time. It was interesting to see how my first picks were more centered around New Circle Living and one of my last ones was Prickly Pear Landscapes. I really wanted to do New Circle Living since it seemed easiest to create and most logo - like to me. One of the hardest to draw was the Young Minds Exploratorium.
8 THUMBNAILS

THUMBNAILS:
My thumbnails are very messy, but I tried to organize them with their companies next to each other. As you can see, I didn't work on Young Minds Exploratorium a whole lot since I was running out of time and wasn't feeling it. The Seat company got the most attention unfortunately.

FINAL STAGES:
This is the tricky part. Choosing a company logo that I will have to work with the entire semester is daunting, but the clean style of the Prickly Pear Landscapes company was best moving forward with. The Seat was just too thin and not worked out enough.

B&W COMPUTER PROGRESSIONS

PROGRESSIONS:
I wanted to see how the logo would look in white as well and with different prickly pear drawings. That was probably the toughest part when it came to choosing which pear. Ultimately I still loved the full cactus with the two black dots. The kerning was a bit trickly, but turning it upside down really helped.
THE FINAL

FINAL PUT TOGETHER:
The final piece looks good to me. It took me forever to cut the board, but I think it's my best one yet. I'm proud of what I've done in this project and I feel that it will help me in the future when researching and creating logos for companies.
