-What I gained: The experience of learning from failure. Helping students and faculty is a nerve racking thing when you first start out, and even now I get nervous that I will somehow mess up, but from those mistakes, teaches me how to do it properly next time. I learned how to communicate efficiently and how to navigate InDesign (still working on it ). Helping students is my main focus while being a peer mentor, which requires me to know many resources given to students at Salt Lake Community College.

-What I gained: How to work with difficult people and come to an understanding. I gained leadership skills to take on any job and execute it to the best of my abilities. I have acquired skills to do graphic designs to better promote the office and program. I have gained social skills to effectively communicate with students and staff.​

-what I did: 

  • -Collaborated with peer mentoring members to devise new methods to generate interest and participation.

  • Implemented opportunities for joint collaborative projects to generate interest among the students.

  • Utilized social media sites to communicate upcoming initiatives with the school.

  • Facilitated weekly group sessions focused on various issues such as time management, budgeting, and mental health resources to help the students in our program: Bruin Scholars.

  • Handled all delegated tasks, including project management and training for current and future Peer Mentors.

  • Frequently communicated with students to help guide them to graduating from Salt Lake Community College by connecting them to resources and people.

-What I gained: Learned the building blocks to project management and how to lead and work with a team.

-What I did: Helped my team understand how to manage and create projects. Created guides to keep activities and projects in check. Worked with students and staff. Collaborated with my team to make sure activities and projects would work smoothly.

-What I gained: Experience working with people and making their ideas come to life. Experience in the world of marketing and using different softwares like Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, and Canva.

-What I did: 

  • Designed new, on-brand visual elements focusing on concept and messaging.

  • Selected colors and themes while adding functionality to create new designs.

  • Generated digital image files for use in digital and traditional printing.

  • Maintained Canvas website courses and updated with newly designed layouts and organized information.

  • Leveraged proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to design flyers, announcements, posters and other promotional materials.

  • Developed website layouts, templates and unique branded looks for projects to promote the Bruin Scholars program at Salt Lake Community College.

  • Created social media posts to promote upcoming events and resources for students.

  • Customer Service (full time), My Medic (SLED LLC)

-What I gained: Better telephone etiquette, empathizing with the customers more, sales knowledge, marketing knowledge, shipping, and better communication skills. I also learned that nepotism is a very real thing.

- What I did: 

  • Communicated with customers via phone, email and online chats.

  • Kept records of customer interactions, payments and issues.

  • Redirected complex needs, issues and requests to management.

  • Processed customer returns and product exchanges.

  • Displayed telephone etiquette, handling difficult calls.

  • Used selling techniques over the phone to drive sales.

-What I do:

  • I work with sales people and clients to create artwork

  • I create product mockups with comapnies logos on them

  • I create logos/artwork

  • Work with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Tasks: Bagging the boxes of food.

  • Tasks: Distributing the bags of food to the homeless.

  • Tasks: Cleaning up all the boxes and excess food and packing it into the food truck.

Title: Volunteer at Church.                                  Date: 8/18/18

  • Organization: It is not a particular organization, but a group of people at a church who bring food to the local homeless shelter.

  • Tasks: I bag all the carrots, pretzels and occasionally the sandwiches that the other volunteers made.

  • Tasks: I participate in a timed race to bag all the lunches in time to hand over the bags to the homeless shelter.
