I wanted to tell the story of my friend McKayla. Her story is about how she grew up dealing with body dysmorphia and the influences that constantly pushed her to the edge. She was told to be perfect, in God's image; she wanted nothing more than to be someone else, because at home she was alone with her thoughts. Her mother would degrade her intentionally and unintentionally out of her own insecurities that were projected as hate. McKayla only believed the negative things said and told to her, while she completely rejected all goodness surrounding her, because she truly was beaten down emotionally to the point where she started hearing voices. McKayla dealt with depression like the other 20 girls in our school, which was a very small High School. She took pills and used other coping mechanisms to ease her pain and silence the voices. I would  tell her she looked beautiful in a certain color or that her hair was extra nice on a day, but she would say that she is ugly and her mother told her to never wear that color because it mae her face or body look ugly. She was truly controlled by her environment and had no voice or will to stand up for herself.
